Last fall my good friend, Gary Plank, loaned me a lot of old Knightstown phone books to use as reference material for this site. I’m very grateful to Gary for the use of them. He plans to give them to Historic Knightstown for their archive. I have scanned all the available phone books up to 1960 and put them into PDF files. I gave discs of the scans to Historic Knightstown and the Library. I will send a copy to anyone who wants one. Just let me know.
I put all phone books up to 1960 on the web, outside of this site. They are in PDF format and require that you have Adobe Acrobat Reader on your computer to view them. Most folks have Acrobat on their computer so if you’re not sure give it a try and see. (you probably do…!!)
To see any of the books in PDF format just click on these links:
This is the first part of the 1950 Phone Book. The files are very large so if you are on a “dial-up” service this page will take a long time to load. I am sorry for the slow preformance.

Very cool of you to post these! If a 1915 directory ever turns up, I’d love to know where my great-grandmother was living while she was working at the Soldiers and Sailors Orphans Home.
